Financial Divorce Association
An Important Message from FDA President, Deb Johnson
Dear FDA Members, Supporters, & Fellow Divorce Financial Planners,
For the past four years, it has been my distinct pleasure and privilege to head the Financial Divorce Association (FDA). This allowed me to contribute to furthering a very important profession, founded by Carol Ann Wilson - Divorce Financial Planning and Analysis. I have often had the opportunity to speak with many of you about training, consult on cases with you, and seek you out to help me with case consultation and design. You, in turn, have shared your time, expertise, and generosity by being instructors, participants, and students in this valuable profession of Divorce Financial Analysis.
After much consideration, I have made the very difficult decision to discontinue the FDA training programs, including the certification program as well as the monthly Teleclasses. This decision was primarily based on the fact that there is really no need for two similar certification programs, the CFDS and the CDFA. Working together with the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts (IDFA), members of the FDA holding the certification of a CFDS (Certified Financial Divorce Specialist), and in good standing with the organization were able to become a CDFA and a member of the IDFA.
There are numerous dedicated professionals and training organizations offering ongoing knowledge and practice building training programs, which include CE offerings, in the Divorce Financial Planning profession. Some of these are the ADFP, IDFA, CFP, IACP, AICPA, just to name a few. As a result of the many excellent training opportunities, I believe we all have access to very solid educational resources, thus maintaining the 'sharp edge' we need to stand out in our profession. As such, I am at peace with the decision to discontinue the offerings of the FDA.
We will continue to keep the website up for the 1st quarter of 2018. Should you have questions or seek consultation for yourself, prospects, or clients, you will be able to contact me through my practice, Divorce Resource Centre of Colorado, Inc. via email: firstname.lastname@example.org or through the website www.DRCofColorado.com. The FDA email address email@example.com will remain, should you need to contact us, however our telephone contact will change to 720 580-3722.
Again, it has been a pleasure working with you and I'm certain our paths will cross again as this profession continues to grow - in training or at conferences. In the meantime, I wish you all much success as you passionately continue to develop your Divorce Financial Planning practices!
Wishing you the best in 2018!
Deb Johnson, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst
President of the Financial Divorce Association
